We hear that all the time in network marketing trainings…. listen, listen, listen. But what are we listening for? What vital bits of information are we looking for? It all comes down to the definition of sales. First of all, we ALL sell. Even if you are a school teacher, you are selling yourself. Sales is nothing more than getting paid to make someone’s life better. Whether it’s a car, a vitamin, or a service, we are all in the business of making someone’s life better. So, back to that listening thing… if you want to make someone’s life better, listen for their problems; areas in their lives that need improvement, desires they have that are not fulfilled. See yourself as a problem solver and the listening will become easy.
My next post is going to talk about sea turtles… what does that have to do with listening… you’ll have to come back and see.

This is SO true. I have a good friend who has had great health success with his Usana nutritional supplements, but he’s never known how to approach others. As soon as his co-worker started talking about aches, pains and feeling old, he opened up and talked about Usana’s quality supplements and benefits.
It took the recognition of helping others to make him break out of his shell. It’s what we do: offer help to others to address a need, or a want. We can help, but first, we have to be willing to listen.
Great advice!
