Life gets in the way sometimes. BUT, a new year is upon us and I am determined to put things back in order. Here is a message that I trust will bring you hope for your future. It is a message of love. It is a message of hope. Eighteen years ago my life changed forever. I wish the same for you. May 2011 be a year of new beginnings for all of you.

I have always loved that quote. What was St. Francis speaking of when he said “If necessary use words”? He was referring to the fact that our ACTIONS are what speak loudly. Our actions will “preach” long before we open our mouths. The purpose of this blog is to teach people how to balance health, finances and their spiritual walk. It is not meant to be a deep theological discussion, but I must digress slightly.

In the book of James, it talks about being a “doer of the word” not just a speaker of the word. This does not mean that we are saved by works. The book of Romans clearly states that we are not saved by works but by faith. However some folks believe that they can have a saving faith and yet not change any of their actions. Works are important because our actions are an indicator of our heart.

The same can be said about the non-church parts of our lives. If your business sells weight loss or health products and you are not living a healthy lifestyle, it will be difficult for you to convince people. Your prospects will judge your actions or what they can SEE (rightly or wrongly) before they listen to your words. This is not a message of condemnation, but rather encouragement. As you begin to make subtle changes in your life, people will notice. I also know that it is difficult to make a ton of changes at once. But, make SOME changes. If perhaps you are a smoker, put a plan of action together to quit. If you haven’t exercised in a while, start now. But begin slowly to avoid discouragement. People will begin to ask you, “I’ve noticed some changes in you. What’s going on?” Then you will have the opportunity to “use words” because your actions have already preached.
